River 2007

What a great river trip we had this year! Despite having to share limited bedrooms with 6 small children and fighting over putting on life jackets- well, with Porter anyway- it was almost a perfect week. Everyone was safe, happy- and some of us got our first real tan in maybe a decade- so that made it WONDERFUL!! Of course we didn't realize until the end of the week that fate actually had it in for us, but hey- ignorance is bliss! Yes, so as far as our river portion of the vacation went- it was lovely- had it ended there, it would've been really nice- but it didn't. We were scheduled to stay through Sunday June, 17th, but on Friday morning we got the horribly sad news that our Grandma McEuen had passed away. So that sort of threw everyone out of the partying mood. So that was not the most ideal ending to a nice vacation- nor were the 6 insurance claims that were racked up in the next few days, but hey, that's the way it goes. Luckily, no one (well, Ollie was looking a little worse for wear...) was seriously injured, and that is always a blessing!!! Better luck next year, eh?

Would someone please expound on the insurance claims for those of us who aren't in the loop?!

First Scott was rear ended by a Mercedes on PCH coming home from the funeral. The Yukon didn't look too bad but the Mercedes was toast. After being hit Scott was pushed into the car in front of him and the Explorer is going to need work. Everyone was fine, Jack was scared but we're not sure if it was the accident or his Grandpa's yelling that scared him. Because the accident the tow package on the Yukon didn't work so we had to tow the boat with my truck. Kurt was driving down the 91 when it sounded like something was dragging behind the boat so we stop and go to investigate. Turns out the engine and prop were dragging down the freeway and were bent out of shape. There was a box in the boat that would lower the trim by bumping the switch over every bounce. Eventually it got lowered enough drag on the freeway. When we got home and were at Costco Ann was driving Marci's car and was bumped into in the parking lot. I think Greg's parents also did some damage to their new 5th wheel trailer. Marci, let me know if I missed anything.

Only the incident with the trailer before the river trip ever got under way! The trailer lost one of it's wheel bearings, and they had to limp all the way from Lake Havasu to Parker missing one of the boat trailer tires... so, yes, that pretty well covers it!

Wait! We totally forgot to mention that right after we found out about grandma and decided that we would all head to So. Cal.- the boat quit in the middle of the last boat ride, for no apparent reason, and I had to drive up river to pick everyone up at the riverside gas station while some neighbors of ours towed the boat back to the house!!!
